FAQ

What is steam cleaning?

“Steam” cleaning or hot-water extraction is our process of carpet cleaning whereby hot water is injected into your carpet at high pressure and immediately extracted.

Because it is an extraction method, bacteria, dust mite, and various other pollutants and allergens are “sucked” from your carpets and outside through our waste recovery system.

Steam cleaning is recommended by all the major carpet manufacturers, and in fact has been rated by “Choice” magazine to be the most effective carpet cleaning method to remove and extract soil, pollutants, sources of bacteria, odours, and allergens from the carpet

What is a Truck-Mount?

Here at Cottesloe Carpet Cleaning we use state-of-the-art truck mounted steam cleaning equipment which are carpet cleaning plants valued in excess of $40,000 mounted in our vans.

These machines offer 5-10 times the cleaning power of conventional portable steam cleaning machines, allowing deeper cleaning and faster drying times.

Bulky, noisy equipment stays outside your home.

Are we insured for accidents occurring while the cleaning is taking place?

While we as a professional Perth carpet cleaning company, take every precaution to protect your carpet and furnishings from accidental damage, unfortunately accidents can happen.

Rest assured we carry full comprehensive public liability and property damage to the amount of $10,000,000.

How long does it take for the carpet to dry after it has been cleaned?

Drying times vary, however most carpet will dry within twelve hours – some in as little as two, some overnight. Drying times depend on weather, indoor air circulation and ventilation, as well as the type of carpet, its age and condition.

How long does a professional carpet cleaning job take?

Although cleaning times vary from job to job, the average time to set up and properly clean 3 average sized rooms of carpet is around one hour.

How often should carpet be cleaned?

Major carpet manufacturers recommend that you vacuum carpet daily and have them professionally steam cleaned every 6 – 12 months. It most cases we recommend having a thorough carpet clean at least once a year.

How often should I have my upholstery cleaned?

Upholstery should not be allowed to become soiled to the extent where the fabric becomes noticeably or visibly discoloured. A good rule-of-thumb is that most upholstery should have a maintenance clean every 18-24 months or before soils and oils build up and stains the fabric.

Keep in mind that maintenance cleaning is less aggressive and is safer to dyes and fabric integrity.

Why is another carpet cleaning company I’ve spoken to, cheaper than you?

Different carpet cleaning companies operate different machines, have different specifications, and sadly, vastly different standards – We believe we are very competitively priced for the service that we provide.

The truth is, we don’t want to compete on price. We compete on quality (if our competitors want to beat us, they have to beat the quality and standard of cleaning that we produce).

Remember, the bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten…
